This drawing was made for Adolf Gutmann, a pupil of Chopin.
Graefle also produced an oil portrait of Chopin, in 1840, which was displayed in 1927 in an exhibition at the Bibliothèque Polonaise in Paris entitled ‘Frédéric Chopin, George Sand et leurs amis’.
