In mid July 1829, Fryderyk set off with a group of friends on a trip to Vienna. Their route led through Cracow, where they had planned to stay for several days. ‘We spent the first week in Cracow just walking around and visiting the surrounding area’. They certainly visited Collegium Maius, the library of the Jagiellonian University, and doubtless also Wawel Hill. In the area around Cracow, they visited Wieliczka, Pieskowa Skała and Ojców.
