Edinburgh, view of the castle from the Old Town, steel engraving by G. Döbler. Collection: Muzeum Fryderyka Chopina [M/701].
On 4 October, Chopin gave a recital at the Hopetoun Rooms on Albyn Place. He certainly visited the castle in Edinburgh and admired the Scott Monument, which was already a symbol of the city. Edinburgh’s tourist attractions also include the Royal Mile and the street leading to the castle buildings, on which stands the mediaeval St Giles’s Cathedral.
