Calder House

Chopin’s private recitals in Scotland took place mainly on the estates outside Edinburgh on which the composer stayed during his travels with Jane Stirling: at the home of Lord Torphichen, Calder House, in Mid Calder, fifteen miles or so from Edinburgh, at the Houstons’ home, Johnstone Castle, at the Murrays’ picturesquely situated home of Strachur, and in Wishaw at the home of the Belhavens.
